DCHI supports the passage of legislation to require cultural competence training for all health care providers. DCHI also supports the enactment of a statewide language access policy including Medicaid reimbursement for language interpretation services. Many women, coming from other countries and political systems, as well as traditional communities like African Americans, low-income and rural women take advantage of DCHI’s Day of Advocacy to learn how to strengthen their collective capacity to educate and influence statewide policy decisions and funding priorities. DCHI organizes an annual Day of Advocacy to train individuals from diverse communities to advocate for needed state-level policy changes in programming, budget, and law to meet their reproductive health needs.
