Concerned Clergy for Choice applauds the recent vote of the New York State legislature, legalizing civil marriage for same-gender couples.
“Extending the responsibilities and protections of civil marriage to same-gender couples strengthens the moral fabric of households and communities across the state,” said Rabbi Dennis S. Ross, director of Concerned Clergy for Choice.
Rabbi Ross added that “We take this historic moment to reaffirm our support for the many same-gender households seeking civil marriage and express appreciation to our State elected leaders. Despite the cries of detractors, same-gender marriage hurts no one – it makes families stronger, better and safer. Members of Concerned Clergy for Choice serve as pastors to many different families. We are graced to witness the deep spiritual, emotional and familial bonds, in same-gender homes, as well as the solemnity of commitment that establishes a secure, nurturing and loving sanctuary for raising children.”
Concerned Clergy for Choice is a network of 1,000 religious leaders from a wide spectrum of faiths supporting reproductive justice including access to contraception and abortion care, sex education and marriage equality for same-gender couples.
